The prairie can't live with them let alone without them! Yes, the Richardson's Ground Squirrels (Spermophilus richardsonii) ... aka "Gophers," have certainly made their grand entrance after hibernating all winter! They might be deemed a nuisance but they are most certainly an iconic symbol of the prairie grasslands!
