Celebrations ...

There are somethings in life worth driving thru a few miles of 'yucky' roads to get to the good roads!  

And when someone as special as our "Papa" ... aka Grandpa and Great-Grandpa is celebrating his 95th Birthday, you want to be there!  Happy 95th Papa Bear!

Today, despite the very cold wind (Brrr...), we gathered up the girls, the babes and the boys and moved them a 'smidge' closer to home!  It's hard to believe the end of October is rounding the corner ... 

Puddle(s)!

I know ... I photographed puddles!!!  What can I say?  Puddles are rather exciting after a long winter!  Another glorious, spring-like day was had!  In fact, it had me in search for rubber boots, the kids rain pants and listening for the start of spring migration!  My windows were open, the furnace was turned off and I enjoyed a moment sitting in my willow chair out on the deck!

On The Road Again ...

And Can't Wait to Get Off the Roads!!!

With the 'OFFICIAL' arrival of Winter (we won't mention the fact that 'Old Man Winter arrived almost 2 months ago!) and our shortest day of the year, the weekend was kicked off and filled with 'road running!'  Between the final hockey game of 2013, early Christmas celebrations with family and friends, and last minute errands ... I am looking forward to the sanctity of Christmas Holidays at HOME!  Enjoy the weekend!

On the Road

Today was a 'Hockey' day!  We didn't have far to go, which was nice and although the boy's team played a very tough team and lost their game, they had fun!  

Winter ... Enough Already ...

Another colourless, wintery, blah day!!!!

I am so ready for Spring!  So ready for Colour!  So ready for Migratory Birds!  

So ready for Mud!  

16 More Days ...

After a few snowflakes this morning and a mostly grey day, the sun emerged!  There are only 16 more days until 'Spring' officially arrives!  Hmm ... I guess that gives me 16 more days to decide whether or not to continue blogging and 16 more days to enjoy the remainder of winter!  Haha!  As if the seasons really follow the calendar!

The Great Hawaiian Escape

Hmm ... to think I have relatives that have the nerve to ATTEMPT escaping an Alberta, Winter!!!

And better yet, send me their pictures from Hawaii!!  

Now, I won't mention the Albertan's who permanently live in Hawaii (Yes D ... I'm talking about YOU!  Haha!) but I will mention my DAD & Flory!  You two can run but you can't hide!

Life is a Highway

Indeed it is!  And now that Autumn is around the corner and the kids are back in school, it would appear that a bit of 'our life' will be spent travelling on this highway to and from various 'after school' activities!  At least there's not much traffic to contend with!  LOL!

Damp Day

You could certainly watch that lil' thunderstorm building in the SW this am and by early this afternoon, the rain was falling.  Just enough moisture to make it a damp day!

COLD & GREY ...

There's Not Much Else to Say!

A splash of sunshine, a strong NW wind blowing off the polar ice caps and snowflakes pretty much sum up the weather for Central Alberta today!  I snapped this on our way to soccer tonight!  We FROZE our butts off!  I am still cold and I've been home for a couple of hours!  

Another Mixed Bag ...

Of Weather!

The transition between winter and spring is always a 'funny' time of the year ... an erractic time weather-wise!  Today, has certainly offered us another mixed bag of sun, wind, and cloudy, daunting skies that are currently threatening snow/rain!!!  Yes, the morning brought a pretty pink prairie sunrise, mid afternoon brought some sunshine and this evening has provided us with heavy grey skies!!!  AND ... I forgot to mention the WIND howled all day!  However, we reached 10 degrees celsius ... our snow is disappearing FAST!

Hmm ... there is the odd Canadian Goose or flock flying north these days and our gravel roads have definitely become a bit 'soupy' ... perhaps ... just perhaps, SPRING is on it's way!
