A Step In The Right Direction ...

The rain is still falling but it's R A I N and not that white stuff!  That's a bit easier to take at this time of year!  Despite being cool, the rain clouds are supposed to depart soon and our sunshine is scheduled to return!

A Bit of EVERYTHING ...

The day started off with a cool, heavy fog!  As the fog burned off the cool breeze danced through our prairie grasses and eventually the rain fell!  Better RAIN than snow ... yes, parts of our dear Province saw *SNOW* this morning!  UGH!

Eventually though ... the clouds cleared and our sunshine returned ... Hmm, it returned with a FROST Advisory attached to it!!!  (I think our summer is coming to a sudden END)

Rainy Day!

A timely rain that sent us on a road trip to get some much needed errands done!   I think in the end, another inch of rain fell!  A welcome drink for thirsty crops!  In our 'neck of the prairies,' rain has 'been a good thing!'  However, for those that have faced yet another deluge of heavy rain and are now flooding, yet again ... rain brings a great deal of heart ache, tears and stress.  My heart certainly goes out to those in Eastern Saskatchewan and Western Manitoba!!!

RAIN ...

The best kind of rain, of course, is a cozy rain.
This is the kind the anonymous medieval poet makes me remember, the rain that falls on a day when you’d just as soon stay in bed a little longer, write letters
or read a good book by the fire, take early tea with hot scones and jam and look out the streaked window with complacency.
~Susan Allen Toth

What started off as an overcast 'misty' morning has turned into a delightful, 'good soaking' RAIN!  And with that ... a cup of hot chocolate, a blanket and a good movie are required as one snuggles in for the evening and listens to the rain!

R A I N

Many a man curses the rain that falls upon his head,
and knows not that it brings abundance to drive away the hunger.
~Saint Basil

We are not quite done seeding BUT we never want to curse a rain either!  After all ... you never know when the tap will get turned off!  Besides, the countryside is looking more and more like a colourful painting with many different shades of GREEN!

Drip, Drop ... SPLAT!

FINALLY ... a fairly warm, substantial and much needed rain!  It's amazing how the trees and grass just seem brighter, cleaner and appear to S T R E T C H upwards after a good Spring rain!  Now, bring on the sunshine and warmer temperatures and this ole' prairie just might burst into a colourful painting!

A Stormy Evening

And when it rains on your parade,
look up rather than down.
Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.
~G.K. Chesterton

After enjoying a gorgeous summer's day, the clouds rolled in late this afternoon!  Prior to the rain coming down, I managed to run out to the end of our lane way to capture the clouds sweeping over the fields.

The sun momentarily broke through, producing a HUGE, faint double rainbow!  I couldn't fit it all in, even with my wide angle lens.  Don't mind the rain drops!  It was windy and still raining when I nabbed this quick shot.  Have a super weekend everyone!

Rain Drops ...

Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with
silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.
~Langston Hughes

We were under a 'severe thunderstorm watch' for most of the day and the clouds that rolled thru certainly brought plenty of rain, thunder and lightning!  The upside, no hail!!! However, I think the power was out for about 3 hours!  More rain is on the way!

Between the Rain Drops ...

... My husband and I had the joy of augering barley sprouts today!  YUCK!  I curse barley at the best of times because it is so itchy!  And, although barley sprouts are not as itchy, they are certainly dusty!!  Well, it didn't take long for the dust to settle either as more rain drops fell this afternoon into the evening and its still raining!
