A St. Patty's Dance!
These are only "snippets" of the incredible Aurora show that danced in the heavens all week! You truly had to witness this display of aurora borealis with you own eyes! Although I missed the initial dance earlier in the week due to cloud cover and snow, the aurora pulled out their best dancing shoes and one of their hottest choreographed numbers not only once BUT twice for St. Patrick's Day! I captured the first images in the wee hours of March 17th staring around 1:00am. The 2nd big number began around 9:30pm on the 17th! I have to say, it was certainly a performance I will never forget!
I tried several times to pack my gear and head in sooner but the mesmerizing dance of the aurora kept me standing there ... in complete awe of such a magical sight! I hope you enjoy these "snippets!"

Night Show
Our oldest son and I couldn't resist chasing the lights last night! Unfortunately, we had missed the "really big" party before we could head out BUT we still managed to catch last call! Even under a very moonlit night, the aurora were amazing! I LOVE watching and listening to my boys when they witness aurora!

Sizzlin' Solstice!
My family and I enjoyed the afternoon and evening celebrating the arrival of the Winter Solstice and an early Christmas with family! Heading home, we witnessed a storm level display of Aurora Borealis dancing across the northern sky and reaching for the south east! There was a great deal of 'rubber-necking' from each of us as we gasped in amazement! Yes, I was chomping at the bit to get home and grab my camera ... and eventually I did! I took a bit of a gamble and drove further down the road to this old school house ... still rubber-necking as I watched in amazement at the aurora display out my side window! There are no words to describe watching this phenomena and it is truly something one should experience with their own eyes! No matter how many times I have watched the Aurora, the next showing is still like a gift!
I'd have to say the Winter Solstice had a sizzling display for its grand entrance! I guess we can officially welcome Winter!

A Summer Storm With Some Zing!
We enjoyed a gorgeous Summer day, full of sunshine and double digit temperatures! Of course that brought about thunderstorm warnings!
After a quiet evening ... I was off to attempt capturing some lightning shots! However, I got a bit more than I bargained for when the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) decided to make a grand entrance as the storm clouds moved off!
As the storm clouds moved off to the East and I decided to pack up my gear, I noticed two aurora bands intersecting the Milky Way in the Southern sky! Yes, I feel very blessed to be able to see our amazing night sky!
