Sizzlin' Solstice!

My family and I enjoyed the afternoon and evening celebrating the arrival of the Winter Solstice and an early Christmas with family!  Heading home, we witnessed a storm level display of Aurora Borealis dancing across the northern sky and reaching for the south east!  There was a great deal of 'rubber-necking' from each of us as we gasped in amazement!  Yes, I was chomping at the bit to get home and grab my camera ... and eventually I did!  I took a bit of a gamble and drove further down the road to this old school house ... still rubber-necking as I watched in amazement at the aurora display out my side window!  There are no words to describe watching this phenomena and it is truly something one should experience with their own eyes!  No matter how many times I have watched the Aurora, the next showing is still like a gift!

I'd have to say the Winter Solstice had a sizzling display for its grand entrance!  I guess we can officially welcome Winter!

The School on the Hill

Still experimenting with my infrared filter.  Not something I use everyday but I do like the challenge and creativity of using an IR filter.  After a bit of an overcast, cool morning, the sun returned and we enjoyed a beautiful summer's day!  Wishing you all a fantastic weekend!

Where Are You Laura Ingalls Wilder?

Summer Hill School

I've driven past the old Summer Hill School so many times but never seem to take the time to stop and take a photo of this historic school.  Well, I did today!  Established back in 1912, it just emanates "Little House on the Prairie!"  I'm not sure if there was ever a 'Laura' that attended this school or taught at this school but it makes one ask "where are you Laura Ingalls Wilder?"  Laura or not, one can be certain that there was definitely a school teacher that stood at that front door greeting her school children as they entered her classroom for the day!
