Winter Wonderland

The heavy fog and hoar frost continue and it has certainly transformed the landscape into a winter wonderland once again!  Hmm ... its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The Fog Zone ...

Our landscape might not be completely covered in snow like it was a few weeks ago but it is certainly covered in hoar frost and fog ...

Into The Fog ...

Fog is rain that whispers.
~Olivia Dresher

Another busy day that had me on the road ... the road that seemed to go nowhere!!!

The Thick of It

A fresh -13C this morning along with a thick fog that lingered most of the morning left a landscape covered in hoar frost!  The question is ... will it be our last?
Fingers crossed ... I think the temperatures are supposed to climb!  Besides, 'winter-white' was so 'last season!  LOL!

A Room With A View

With our days getting shorter the sun rises a bit more reasonably!  Not that I don't mind getting up at 4:30 am but somehow, having a coffee in hand at 7:00am and listening to the morning commotion of the house waking while watching the sun rise is a bit more appealing!

The Mist On a August Morn

I love the magic and mystery of a morning mist!  As we head into the last week of August 2013 I suspect there are going to be a few more misty mornings.  Have a great week everyone.  Cheers!

Feeding in the Fog

Weather forecast for tonight:  dark.
~George Carlin

Dark and FOGGY I might add!  The fog rolled in and out all day and at one point I thought maybe the sun would burn through.  That didn't happen and by the time my youngest and I were feeding cows at 5:00pm, the fog was thick like soup.  I don't mind, especially when one is enjoying the comforts of being home.  Besides, there is a peaceful calmness in fog like tonight.

The Foggy Abyss

Engulfing the landscape, I love the mystery in a fog.  I love how it seems to hang on with claw like grips in coulees and valleys yet rolls over roads and dry flat lake bottoms. I'm amazed how it can be so thick and within a breath be gone!  It certainly seems like an abyss at times!

A Splash of Red

Hmm ... anyone else lacking Vitamin D and feeling claustrophobic these days?  Still no sun but plenty of FOG ... LOTS and LOTS of FOG!  Perhaps we are in for a significant amount of snowfall come the end of January and the beginning of February, but that's only if you believe in 'old wives tales' and if it's the 'right kind of fog!'  LOL!  Either way,  my little piece of the prairies has been rather dull and colourless this last week and a half.  However, while checking heifers this afternoon, the old red pump house up on the hill, was just the splash of colour that I needed to see to brighten my day!

Thoughts and Prayers ...

A bit of fog and some freezing rain might make some of us 'cranky' but it certainly is nothing to complain about ... especially when Hurricane Sandy is wreaking havoc on so many out on the East Coast.  Thoughts and prayers to all of my friends, followers and fellow bloggers out on the East Coast.  Stay strong and be safe!  Here's hoping that Hurricane Sandy passes swiftly!

Another Foggy Morn!

Even on cloudy days the sun waits to break through.
~Daniel,@blindedpoet

I love a morning fog.  I love watching the fog roll and lift and the light of the sun trying to break through.  And when and if, it finally does, the landscape is always breathtaking!  Well, the sun poked through for most of the day and the clouds certainly rolled past and built up to the point of us enjoying a tornado watch for a bit this afternoon.  Alas, that weather warning past and the sky is now heavy and the rain is coming down!  Ah ... the rainy season ... we need it and we'll take it!

A Foggy, Frost Laden Morn!

A busy weekend lies ahead but I managed to dash out this morning and grabbed a couple of quick shots.  Our landscape was definitely looking like a beautiful winter scape this morning with a heavy fog and hoarfrost covering everything.  After the last few days of 'drab' ... it was nice to see that round bright ball peeking through ...

Good Morning World!

Climb up on some hill at sunrise.  Everybody needs perspective once in a while,
and you'll find it there.

~Robb Sagendorph

I don't know a better way to start the day than seeing and feeling the warmth of the sun!  This morning, a bit of fog rolled into the hills but it didn't last too long.  As the sun rose and peered over the horizon ... the fog dissipated rather quickly but in doing so it gave rise to a magnificent prairie view!  "Good Morning World!"

Friday, October 21, 2011

It was a funny October morning, weather wise!  First it was cloudy, then sun popped out ... then the fog rolled in and it all occurred within minutes!  Despite my lack of desire to head out into the cold and fog, the horses do care and they don't like me to be late!!!  They have a routine you know ... or so their expressions say so ... even if I am only running 5 minutes behind schedule!
