Blasted ...

Yes, we were blasted with the blizzard's tongue today!  We've certainly had worse storms but our girls were still unimpressed!  Of course, had they stayed in the big corral like we suggested to them late yesterday afternoon BEFORE the storm hit with fresh bedding and feed ... they wouldn't have had to make a dash back to the corral where I fed them again today!  Hmm ... silly cows!

Unofficially WINTER!

Winter dies into the spring,
to be born again in the autumn.
~Terri Guillemets

It's not often the 'Weatherman' is right (at least we don't give the Weatherman that kind of credit), however, it would appear they forecasted this snow storm bang on!  I'm not sure how much snow we ended up receiving in the end since much of it arrived horizontally thanks to the blustery wind.  I would guess it was close to 20cm, give or take a few centimetres.  Despite the calendar stating the season is still officially 'Autumn,' it looks like 'Winter' is here to stay ... unofficially!

Run Gypsy Run!

Yes, Gypsy, along with the cows and other horses were running for cover this evening as the snow began to 'stick!'  The winter storm forecasted has arrived and the weatherman has posted a snowfall warning stating we are supposed to receive up to 25cm (10 inches) of snow!  Hmm ... I have a feeling 'winter' is here to stay!

Batten Down the Hatches and Huddle!

There is NO Rest for the Winter Weary!

The cows aren't impressed and the humans are even less impressed!  By 4:00am, the ground was white and we've had blizzard-like conditions all day.  I think we've had close to a foot of fresh snow if not more ... then again, it's hard to tell when it's arriving horizontally!  On a positive note, it's only -1C and the snow is heavy and wet which is great moisture!  *sigh* ... I must say I would prefer rain and 14C at this stage!  However, that didn't happen and we certainly have a winter wonderland once again!  Spring eh?

Winter White Out!

Welcome to Year 3 of my Seasons 365 Project and Welcome to Winter!
Haha ... yes, this is day 2 of 'Spring' on the Canadian Prairies!  FUN!  The bonus, the roads did blow in, the buses and school were cancelled, it was only -5C ... oh and school is cancelled for tomorrow as well.  Yeah!  The kids get an early start to their 'SPRING BREAK!'  Hmm ... I wonder what we will do???  Perhaps snowshoe!  LOL!

I just want to send a huge 'thank you' to all of you who have faithfully followed along with my 365 journey!  I greatly appreciate your comments and hope you'll join me for yet another year!  Cheers Everyone!

Could've Been Worse ...

The weatherman used the word 'blizzard' but a blizzard it was not ... at least not what I would refer to what a blizzard is!  Yes, the wind howled and we did see some 'horizontal snow' but we didn't get near the snow they had predicted!  There are a few flakes of snow falling this morning but they say the sun will return ... I guess we will have to wait and see!

Winter's Harsh Arrival ...

They said it would happen and it did!  Old Man Winter did more than just tease us ... he ARRIVED!  Apparently he didn't receive the memo that it's still 'Autumn!'  Hmm, neither myself, or the horses seemed pleased.  They were taking cover in the trees and I had to find my snow shovel and put it to use twice today and I am certain that by the time morning arrives, I will need to use it once more.

Aaah ... Spring is in the Air!

Or ... Perhaps NOT!!

Well, although this morning's commute might not look appealing to you ... the highways were plowed and were a drastic improvement from our commute home last night!  Yes, spring is only a couple of days away and we were blessed with 4-5 inches of wet, heavy snow ... the kind that makes the grass grow!!!  It is definitely March and there is always a battle between Winter and Spring!  Winter tries to hang on and Spring tries to take over!  Oh well, the best part about these winter/spring snow storms is we know they won't last ... which is good because they've forecasted another 'winter storm warning' for us tonight!  Time to make a hot chocolate!
