Meet the Brewer's Sparrow (Spizella breweri)! Likely the most nondescript sparrow that returns each summer, the Brewer's Sparrow makes a sagebrush habitat it's home! Despite it's dull-looking wardrobe, the Brewer's Sparrow is certainly a voice of the native prairie! The Brewer's Sparrow is native to western North America, spending it's summers further north and wintering in the south as far as Mexico. The Brewer's Sparrow numbers are on the decline mainly due to habitat loss.
You know you're a birder when you get excited about different kinds of sparrows. :) I do too.
