Plover Paradise!
While this little Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) certainly seems to be content in its summer slough surroundings, I on the other hand, always seem to struggle with August and the changes that come with it! Fall migration has already begun ... yes, the Tree Swallows and others, have already flown the coop for southern destinations and all that was plump, lush and green ... well, its becoming less so! I love that we have 4 seasons but I certainly wish there was a more even distribution among them ... I am not ready for summer to slip away!!!

I agree, equal distribution of the seasons in reality, not just on the calendar, would be preferable! We have killdeer in our corral bog and they are always to quick and skiddish to get a good shot, so great shot!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be wonderful if we only had 3 months of winter instead of 6 or 7 .... or what felt like 8 this past year!!! Killdeer are actually quite curious! You'll have to try to just sit around your corral bog for a bit longer ... curiosity usually gets them in the end and they will come in quite close to see who and what you are!!!
