Finally ... Spring Migration On a Grand Scale!
The Snow Geese are on the move in huge flocks ... finally!!! I love migration but spring migration holds a special place in my heart. It signifies not only a change in the season but rejuvenation of a landscape! Canada is home to more than 500 migratory birds during part of the year. Until you have witnessed the farewell of the migratory birds in the fall and the silence of winter with so many gone ... its hard to explain the excitement of hearing and seeing the large numbers of migratory birds fanning out across the sky and returning to their nesting grounds! It truly is an amazing site! I feel so blessed to live here!

That is exactly the site I saw on the way home from Calgary! I was so excited, but the threat of bad weather and the group of people who decided to travel together with me prevented me from stopping and photographing this! You are so lucky!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it one of the best sights? Migration amazes me! Sorry you didn't get to stop and take pictures but glad you got to see such a large flock! It's so cool!
DeleteGreat shots. You bring up a good point that having periods of bad times makes us appreciate the good times even more.
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt! Yes, it's true, we can take a great deal for granted when something is there all the time ... or at least we think it will be.
DeleteThese are truly amazing photos, Terri. I don't think I've ever seen so many birds together:) Breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to get some more images Olga! I was in a hurry yesterday but I wish I had video taped them as well! The SOUND of that many birds is just so incredible! It gives you goose bumps to see and hear them! :)
