Definitely not the best shot ... have you ever tried to sneak up on a heron ... or any creature really ... out in the bald ass prairie??? It does not work so well! Haha! The Great Blue Herons (Ardea herodias) visit us from approximately March to October. I love seeing them stand so patiently in a wetland, as well as taking flight ... the sound of their big, deep wingbeats! Hopefully, prior to them heading south for the winter... I can capture a photo of one not so far away!
