Nodding Heads!

As if they were asleep ... the nodding heads, of the Three Flowered Avens, otherwise known as the Old Man's Whiskers (Geum triflorum), are making their mark on the prairie landscape these days!

Bright in color and nodding with each prairie breeze ... when they finally burst open ... you can understand how the name "Old Man's Whiskers" came about!  Somehow, I think these whiskers are bit more favorable!
