Celebrating Thanksgiving With a Final Paddle

With harvest done, we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Thanksgiving Day than loading up the canoe and enjoying a 'Fall' paddle down the Red Deer River!  It was a beauty of a day ... and we even 'braved' taking our crazy hounds!

Hmm ... the hounds quite enjoyed themselves!

We usually travel this river in the late spring/early summer when it's running much higher, faster and the water is muddy!  It was such a treat paddling on it with crystal clear water!

Of course, one does have to stop for a 'snack break', hike and collect clam shells!

Our final destination ... Dry Island Buffalo Jump!

I am so thankful for so many things but I am most grateful for my family!  They are my rocks and without them life would certainly be less colourful and exciting.  Thanks for such a great day and thank you for everyday family!  I love you!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

    1. Awe! Thanks Olga! It was a fantastic day! We were hoping to get down the river a week or two earlier when the fall colours were at their prime but the colours were still wonderful and it was great to have a day to ourselves! Now to convince my husband to head down the river after the first snowfall before there is ice!!! Hmm ... I don't know if I'll have any luck with that one!
