Yarrow ...

Achillea millefolium L.

I love taking a stroll through some of our native grass at this time of the year!  Although everything is ripe, certain patches of plant species just stand out!  One of my favorite forbs is the waving heads of western yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.).  I find it doesn't stand out in the summer as much as it does in the fall.  During the fall, it has a deep, rich gold lustre ... especially when the sun's rays bounce of the yarrow heads!
