A Quick Glimpse of Ontario, Canada

Sadly, over the course of the last few days, I had to take a quick trip to Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario to say a final 'goodbye' to my very dear Great Aunt.  Ontario was her home ... all 86 years and she spoke of it with a true passion.  You have to see and experience the heritage that is captured in this wonderful province.  Truly, so much of our Canadian history started out in the East and ... as they say "headed west!"  A few years ago, when my husband and I took our kids out to visit her, she really wanted to show us the country side.  Alas, the farms are smaller and older (the stone houses are a sight to be seen) but we do not have the Amish community!  It is incredible to see fields being plowed by horses, families heading into town by horse and buggy and farms completely off the power grid!  An amazing sight!  Before heading back home, my family and I were able to take in a few of my Aunt's favourite sights.

Many of these were snapped from the backseat of the car ... and there were many incredible sights that I didn't get pictures of ... the Amish hauling in a wagon load full of wheat stooks over to the thrashing machine, the maple syrup farms, the mouth-watering raspberry-cinnamon buns we bought from the mennonites and indulged in .... etc., etc.,  Although my Great Aunt is no longer with us ... we have her stories and knowledge of some of her favourite places and we hope to someday soon, return with our kids once again, and show them all the places that she loved!
